September 15, 2009
Univision Communications Inc announced a new campaign to inspire volunteerism, “Unidos Nos Ayudamos Más” (United We Help Each Other More). A champion of the Hispanic community for nearly 50 years, Univision has produced five public service announcements (PSAs) featuring Univision talent encouraging viewers to help one another.
The PSAs will begin airing on the network’s satellite feed on Monday, October 19.
Joe Uva, chief executive officer and president, Univision Communications, Inc., announced the “Unidos Nos Ayudamos Más” campaign at the Converge 2009 Digital & Social Media Conference in New York City “As a Company whose mission is to empower, inform and entertain the Hispanic community, we take our responsibility to make a real contribution to the greater good seriously,” said Uva. “That is why this effort will build on the success of previous community initiatives that have taught us the impact we can have when we dedicate our resources to driving positive social change.”
The topics covered in the spots complement President Obama’s “United We Serve” campaign and include: education, health, community revitalization, energy and the environment, as well as safety and security (military families). The PSA’s will air on Univision, TeleFutura, Galavisión, Univision and TeleFutura’s local stations, and Univision.com. Univision Radio will also take part in promoting the “Service to America” campaign through local radio promotions encouraging people to volunteer.
Several of Univision’s stations including those in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Puerto Rico have localized this campaign promoting volunteerism and highlighting the unsung heroes of their local communities. Some of Univision’s top rated shows including “Despierta América” (Wake Up America); news magazine “Primer Impacto” (First Impact) and Sunday public affairs show “Al Punto” (To The Point) will also promote this campaign via segments highlighting heroes that have made a difference in their communities. On October 19th, viewers are encouraged to visit Univision.com (keyword: Ayudar) to get information about volunteering in their local communities and link to President Obama’s “United We Serve” Spanish-language site (www.servir.gov). In addition, Univision.com will also connect viewers to Univision’s local market sites to
learn more about how the local stations are promoting this initiative.
