Univision makes strategic appointments.

Univision Communications, Inc. announced two key appointments focused on research and analytics. Dan Murphy has been appointed senior vice president, Audience Measurement and Analytics and Kevin King is joining the Company as senior vice president of Digital Research. The announcement was made today by Elizabeth Ellers, EVP, Corporate Research, Univision Communications, Inc.
 
In his new role, Murphy will work closely with Ceril Shagrin, Univision’s EVP of Audience Measurement and Analytics, in managing third party industry relationships and experiments for the Company. King will help lead the company’s ongoing efforts to provide the type of digital programming and content the Univision audience prefers.  Through the use of Univision’s proprietary traffic analytics tools and other research methods, King and his team will provide insights on ratings trends along with projections that will help inform business decisions.
 
“As our audience evolves, we rely heavily on research for the best way to reach Hispanic consumers through digital media,” said Ellers. “Dan and Kevin bring the knowledge and leadership to provide the kind of sharp research and analytics that will enable us to continue to serve our audience.”
 
Over the last 13 years, Murphy has proven himself to be an innovative leader in the Digital space, stewarding Univision’s MRC Audit of Ads and Server-side traffic counts which under his direction is the longest running in the industry.  He subsequently served as the MRC’s Digital Chair. In 2012, Murphy was awarded an IAB Lifetime Achievement Award for co-founding the IAB Ad Operations Advisory Council.
 
Most recently King was vice president of Digital Research at A&E Networks.  In that role he was responsible for the oversight of strategic primary research for companywide initiatives.  Prior to that King worked for Viacom Media (formerly MTV Networks) in various research roles.  King also worked at ABC Television and CBS Broadcasting.
