November 14, 2011
Univision announced the production in Los Angeles for “Dale con Ganas” (Give It Your All), an exciting and emotional contest filled with heart-racing challenges, celebrity guests, and weekly surprises, with one family ultimately winning a grand prize of $100,000. The show will be hosted by Alfonso ‘Poncho’ de Anda, co-host of Univision’s top rated morning program “Despierta América” (Wake-Up America). The weekly broadcast is coproduced by Broome’s 25/7 Productions and Estefan Film and Television Productions in collaboration with Univision Studios.
From the creator and executive producer of “The Biggest Loser” Dave Broome and executive producer Emilio Estefan comes a show that is much more than a competition, it’s also a real-life family novela— times four. Set and cast in Los Angeles, four families, each with four members, will represent several Hispanic heritages: Mexican, Colombian, and Peruvian. The common denominator between all of them is that they are overweight.
“Univision continues to look for new ways to bring relevant content to our audiences, and ‘Dale con Ganas’ is an ideal addition to our primetime line-up,” says Luis Fernández, president of Entertainment and Univision Studios. “The new series will deliver drama and entertainment while inspiring others to carry out healthier lifestyles.”
“Obesity in the Hispanic/Latino community has reached epidemic levels,” said Broome. “I’m excited to be making a television series that is part novela and part competition, which offers a unique way for an audience to be entertained and inspired.”
“‘Dale Con Ganas’ will inspire families of all generations to achieve their personal and physical goals in life,” said Emilio Estefan. “It is an innovative approach and an emotional journey of four families that will impact their lives forever.”
“Dale con Ganas” is a weight loss competition targeted at Spanish-Speaking Americans. This groundbreaking series takes into account the unique cultural idiosyncrasies and socio-economic realities of Latin Americans living in the U.S. It offers all the drama and entertainment value of other reality TV fare, while also providing takeaway information for viewers at home to begin their own healthier lifestyles. Most importantly, Dale con Ganas lives up to its title by being truly inspirational. Over the course of three months, Hispanic top trainers María Simón, Marcelo Crudele, Oscar Luna and Luis Alberto Aracena will work with four families who will compete, face defeat, succeed and transform their bodies and their lives publicly.
Dale con Ganas spans 12 episodes in 12 weeks, culminating in a massive, in-studio live-to-tape finale where one family will win the grand prize of $100,000.
Host Poncho De Anda will become their confidante, offering encouragement and support. A popular television personality, he has been co-host of “Despierta America” since 2010. Prior to Univision, he served as host for many programs, including Emilio Estefan’s reality show “Nuevas Voces de América.”
The four Hispanic top trainers guiding the families in their quest come with a myriad of fitness and health expertise. Simón has been a successful group fitness instructor for 10 years, beginning with kickboxing and cardio salsa. The Southern Californian has taught physical fitness at leading facilities in Southern California and created her own six-week fitness program called “Burn.”

A former professional soccer player, Crudele studied for his license in Boxing-Kickboxing and Fitness by the Private Trainer’s Association of America (PROPTA). In addition to standard fitness practices, he incorporates Boxing-Kickboxing, core training, and nutrition for the best results.
Luna is a former member of the Boxing Academy of East Los Angeles where he trained and sparred with some of the most renowned names in boxing. Originally from Mexico, Luna combines his artful boxing skills with his culinary expertise, love of outdoor adventures and his athletic intensity to combat the challenges of a Los Angeles lifestyle.
