In a first for Spanish-language TV, Univision’s WXTV Channel 41 here is number one in New York’s 6 pm weekday local news race regardless of language. “Noticias Univision 41” (Univision 41 News) with anchor Rafael Pineda, seen weekdays, 6 pm to 6:30 pm. With only four weekdays left in the January 2009 survey, “Noticias” is tied for first place with “Eyewitness News” on WABC-TV, both stations having 153,000 viewers aged 18 to 49 on an average quarter hour basis according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) Local People Meter (LPM) data. It is the first time that a Spanish-language 6 pm local newscast has ever been number one in the New York area in a January survey period.
The January 2009 survey period runs from January 8 through February 4, 2009.
