Univision’s 15th ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ On February 5th, 2003.

On Wednesday, February 5, Univision, America’s leading Spanish-language television network, will host the 2003 edition of ‘Premio Lo Nuestro A La Musica Latina’ (Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards), the most prestigious award ceremony held in the U.S. to honor the Latin music industry. Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, the show will feature appearances by world-famous recording stars such as Thalía, Marc Anthony, and Juanes, and will be hosted by Mexican presenter Marco Antonio Regil, of TeleFutura’s ‘100 Mexicanos Dijeron’ (100 Mexicans Said). ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ will air LIVE on the Network beginning at 8pm ET.
Among the artists who will be performing at the musical event are:
Mexican superstar Thalía, one of the most popular Latin artists in the world for both her music and acting careers; Marc Anthony, salsa king and international pop star in both the Hispanic and the general markets; Colombian pop singer/songwriter Juanes, who became an international phenomenon with his first album this year and is nominated for six ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ awards; the beautiful Pilar Montenegro, who recently shot to the top of the Latin music charts with her hit “Quítame a Ese Hombre”; the pop duo sensation Sin Bandera; and top regional Mexican music bands Conjunto Primavera and Banda El Recodo.
In addition to those performing, an impressive list of Hispanic celebrities will be presenting awards or attending the event as invited guests. Among the confirmed names are Sofia Vergara, Arath de la Torre, Cynthia Klitbo, Edith Gonzalez, Erika Buenfil, Jose Maria Torre, Rafael Amaya, Sara Maldonado, Valentino Lanus, Vikki Carr, Maribel Guardia, Alejandra Guzmán, Jennifer Peña, Lucía Méndez, Millie Corretjer.
The evening’s winners will be selected from a list of previously announced nominees in the categories of Pop, Rock, Tropical, Regional Mexican and Urban. Among the recording artists nominated this year are Juanes (six nominations), Celia Cruz (six nominations), Enrique Iglesias, Alejandro Sanz, Chayanne, Shakira, Thalía, Marc Anthony, Pilar Montenegro, Carlos Vives, Marco Antonio Solís, Lupillo Rivera, Banda El Recodo, Paulina Rubio and many more.
The ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ awards were created in 1989 to recognize excellence in the Latin music industry in the United States. Throughout the awards’ 15 years of existence, some of the biggest names in Latin music have attended and performed at the annual ceremony. Its live broadcast, an exclusive Univision production, has become the most-watched television program by Hispanics in the United States, beating all-time top-rated events such as the Super Bowl, the Oscars and the NBA finals. The 2003 ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ will take place at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida.
