Univision’s Phoenix & Bakersfield TV Station honored with Edward R Murrow Awards.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that two Edward R Murrow Awards have been bestowed upon KTVW Phoenix Reporter Ruben Pereida and Photojournalist Javier Rodriguez, and to KABE Bakersfield Reporter Irma Cervantes.
 
“Univision congratulates Pereida, Rodriguez, Cervantes and their stations, KTVW and KABE, for winning Murrow Awards and continuing the excellence in reporting audiences across the United States have come to expect from our journalists,” said Kevin Cuddihy, president of Univision Television Group.
 
Highly coveted in the world of journalism, the Edward R. Murrow honors outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.  Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
 
Pereida and Rodriguez of KTVW Univision 33 in Phoenix were recognized for their stellar reporting of “Eastleigh, The New Beginning,” their story showcasing how immigrants from poverty stricken South Africa are making a new life for themselves in Arizona.
 
Cervantes of KABE Univision 39 in Bakersfield, California was awarded for her outstanding and compassionate reporting on “League of Dreams,” a sports league for disabled children that gives them the opportunity to participate in group sports normally not available to them.
