Univision’s Primetime Jewel ‘Rubi’.

Is she the villain or the heroin? That is the unique twist of Univision’s newest primetime novela, “Rubí” (Ruby), debuting Monday September 20, 2004, at 8pm (7pm Central). Produced by the famed Jose Alberto Castro and shot on location in the exotic beach town of Cancun, Mexico, it is the story of a woman who battles between her desire to find true love and a desperate obsession over money.

Although fate did not favor Rubí (Bárbara Mori) economically, she was blessed with extraordinary beauty, which she decides to use to her advantage – to find and marry a wealthy man. While attending college on a scholarship, she befriends Maribel (Jacqueline Bracamontes), a shy, unassuming disabled girl who happens to be very rich. Maribel’s online chats with a boy named Héctor (Sebastián Rulli) turn into true love after they finally meet in person. When Héctor introduces Rubí to his best friend Alejandro (Eduardo Santamarina), a handsome medical student, they also fall in love and Rubí’s dream of finding a rich husband looks more promising than ever. However, when Rubí finds out that Alejandro comes from a poor family, she yields to greed. She breaks up with Alejandro and sets in motion a devious plan of treachery: to steal Héctor from Maribel.

Passion, love, envy, intrigue, and revenge… all the ingredients that will make the story of Rubí one that Hispanic TV viewers won’t want to miss. “Rubí” airs weekdays from 8-9pm (7-8pm Central) on the Univision Network.
