Artist and Idea Management, Urban Latino Magazine and Gallco Studios announced that MetroTV, a regional cable channel in the New York metropolitan area, has committed to co-producing and airing 13 original episodes of Urban Latino TV; an English language television series targeting young U.S. Latinos. MetroTV will premiere Urban Latino TV in March 2002.
The magazine-lifestyle program will highlight the diverse elements of U.S. Latin culture with topics ranging from entertainment, sports and celebrity interviews to fashion, music and culture, each from a New York/Latino perspective.
“Urban Latino TV had previously secured clearances in key markets for a potential Fall 2001 debut including Los Angeles, Houston, Miami and San Francisco”, said Robert Rose, President of Artist and Idea Management, Packager and Executive Producer of the show. “However, a New York clearance proved difficult and while we did receive interest from broadcasters, no one was willing to depart from the conventional status quo. I can’t tell you how thrilled we are to have a strong and forward thinking partner like MetroTV to get this show exposure in the country’s 2nd largest Hispanic market. ”
Thirteen episodes of a second broader and national version of Urban Latino TV is in the works for a national syndicated launch for the Fall 2002 season targeting the remaining top U.S. Latino markets via English language broadcast outlets.
