V-me to provide Nightly Primetime Convention Coverage.
July 18, 2008
V-me, America’s fastest growing Spanish network will present nightly primetime coverage of the Democratic and Republican National Conventions as part of its PARTICIPA 2008 initiative.
Broadcasting from a skybox overlooking the proceedings in Denver and St. Paul, award-winning journalist and anchor Jorge Gestoso will lead the network’s convention coverage. Gestoso is joined by the V-me Noticias team, led by Luis Sarmiento with reports from the convention floor, and Silvina Sterin-Pensel reporting from PARTICIPA 2008 news headquarters in New York.
Nightly one-hour primetime specials from 9:00 – 10:00pm (et/pt) will present convention highlights, the day’s news, and interviews with key delegates, officials and analysts. And throughout each evening, viewers can tune into V-me Noticias for expanded newsbreaks with up to the minute information at the top of every hour. On Friday following the close of each convention, V-me will review the results and look ahead to the race for the White House.
PARTICIPA 2008, V-me’s year long commitment to quality political coverage and voter education in Spanish, is made possible in part by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
