Viva Mexico: El Grito on Telemundo.

Telemundo presents “Viva Mexico: El Grito,” a ninety-minute live special where history and entertainment come together to celebrate the anniversary of Mexico’s War of Independence on September 15 at 11:30PM ET, 10:30PM CT and 8:30 PM PT. Hosted in Mexico City by the beloved actress and singer from “Una Maid in Manhattan,” Litzy and Telemundo’s news correspondent Julio Vaqueiro; and in Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles, California, by actress Vanessa Villela and mun2 TV host Guad Venegas, the star-studded special will feature music performances as well as cut-ins from multiple celebrations across the country. Telemundo also will present “Celebrando El Grito,” a celebratory film showcase featuring six classics of Mexican cinema throughout the weekend of September 15-16.

The spectacular celebration “Viva Mexico: El Grito” will air live from Mexico City’s main square, the Zocalo, where every year the Mexican President leads the ceremony of “El Grito” and shouts “Viva Mexico,” while thousands of Mexicans celebrate with fireworks and flags. This special night filled with emotion and music will feature performances by top Mexican music artists including the eldest brother of the Rivera dynasty and judge of Telemundo’s reality show “Yo Me Llamo,” Lupillo Rivera; La reina del pueblo (the queen of the people), Graciela Beltrán; the Spanish singer with a Mexican soul, Shaila Durcal, and Tierra Sianolense’s leading man, Chuy Lizarraga. In addition, Norteño and Banda music singer Fidel Rueda will perform from Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles, California.

The special will feature exclusive reports from “El Grito” celebrations across the country including segments on its history, traditional Mexican dishes and patriotic symbols of this unique Mexican celebration.

Telemundo will also broadcast “Celebrando El Grito,” a film showcase on Saturday and Sunday, September 15th and 16th featuring six classics of Mexican cinema featuring beloved actors such as Cantinflas, la India María and, Vicente Fernández, among others.
