Vourvoulias-Bush – Executive Editor @ El Diario La Prensa.

El Diario La Prensa announced the appointment of Alberto Vourvoulias-Bush as Executive Editor of the nation’s oldest Spanish-language daily newspaper. Vourvoulias-Bush is a veteran journalist and scholar with extensive experience leading editorial teams of notable publications. The appointment is effective June 1, 2005.

“We are extremely excited to be able to recruit one of the best minds in the industry,” said Rossana Rosado, Publisher & CEO of El Diario La Prensa. “His journalistic leadership in covering local and Latin American issues combined with his demonstrated editorial and management skills will allow us to continue to build upon our paper’s strengths and further empower our readers.”

Most recently, Vourvoulias-Bush was Managing Editor of ARTnews, a premiere magazine covering the international art world. Prior to that position, Vourvoulias-Bush served as Deputy Editor of Time Magazine’s Latin America Edition and Director, Time Americas. There he developed articles on issues ranging from politics, economics, and business, to social issues and cultural trends. Vourvoulias-Bush also worked at Poder magazine as Director of “An Agenda for the Americas,” a major conference on US-Latin American issues. He spent four years at the Council on Foreign Relations as a research associate for the foreign policy think-tank, and has been a lecturer at New York University (SCE) and an instructor at Yale University. Vourvoulias-Bush replaces Pedro Rojas, who has returned to California for family reasons.

“I am looking forward to joining El Diario’s team and leading the newsroom through what promises to be an important period for Latinos and for New Yorkers” said Vourvoulias-Bush. El Diario is the number one newspaper in New York, the second largest Hispanic market in the US, with a circulation and readership larger than any other Spanish-language newspaper in the tri-state area. Vourvoulias-Bush has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and both a Master of Arts and a Master of Philosophy from Yale University’s Department of Politics.
