WAPA America to originate signal from Puerto Rico.

On July 28, WAPA America will complete the relocation of its master control operations from LIN TV in Massachusetts to WAPA’s state-of-the art facilities at the station’s headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The move, which was accompanied by a $2 million investment, will allow WAPA America to retain complete control over the broadcast of its channel and to deliver the highest-quality signal to the more than 3.5 million U.S. homes that receive the channel.

“We’re thrilled to bring WAPA America’s master control operations to Puerto Rico where we have more resources and can better manage the signal that millions of Puerto Ricans and other Hispanics living in the U.S. enjoy,” said Jose E. Ramos, President of WAPA Television. “The move was executed smoothly and efficiently and the signal is now clearer than ever.”

To coincide with the master control relocation and to celebrate the millions of U.S. Hispanics who watch the channel, on August 2 WAPA America will launch a new branding campaign exclusively for the U.S. audience that includes new on-air graphics, new promos and a new promotional video featuring some of Puerto Rico’s biggest and most important celebrities, including Reggaeton sensation Tito El Bambino, ex Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera, and famous comedian Sunshine Logrono.

“We want the U.S. Puerto Ricans and other Hispanics who watch WAPA America to know how important they are to us and to genuinely identify with the channel,” said Jimmy Arteaga, Vice President of Programming and Promotion.
