WAPA American launches new programming.

WAPA America kicks off the summer with an exciting new lineup of local programming, including an original new daytime variety show, the complete season of the network’s first locally-produced dramatic series in 18 years, and exclusive Puerto Rico Soccer League games.

On Tuesday, May 26, the network launched a new hour-long daytime variety show, “Pegate al Mediodia,” during the 11:30 a.m. EST timeslot, replacing the former daytime show, “Mediodia Puerto Rico.” The new “Pegate al Mediodia” (“Tune in to Midday,” in English) is hosted by Angelique Burgos, a well known on-air personality in Puerto Rico, and features a diverse local cast and invited guests. The television entertainment magazine presents a variety of segments featuring comedy sketches, interactive games and live musical performances.

In addition, WAPA America is the exclusive broadcaster of National Puerto Rico Soccer League games, which debuted on Sunday, May 24. The games will air on Sundays at 7:00 p.m. EST throughout the season, and will feature the Island’s top players.

Back by popular demand, viewers can enjoy the complete season of “Al Borde Del Deseo,” (“On the Edge of Desire,” in English), the first dramatic series produced by WAPA Television in 18 years, every Monday through Friday at 9:00 p.m. EST throughout the summer. The series features a first-class cast made up of veteran and breakout actors from Puerto Rico, Mexico, and other Latin American countries.

“We’re excited to launch this new lineup and are proud of our diverse programming offer for our U.S. audience,” said Joe Ramos, President of WAPA Television. “With nearly 100 hours per week of local news and original and local entertainment content, WAPA is the leader in Puerto Rican programming and will continue to support and produce the highest-quality local content for our U.S. and Puerto Rican audiences.”
