WFAN-AM Launches ‘The Latin Beat’ In NYC.

WFAN announced that beginning on Saturday, April 9 (time to vary), Roberto Clemente Jr. will join the WFAN on air staff as host of a new weekly show, ‘The Latin Beat’. Joining Clemente Jr. will be co-host Tanyette Colon. The pair will talk Mets and Yankees baseball, while also taking a look at how baseball impacts the Latin community in the Metropolitan New York area.

WFAN General Manager Lee Davis said, “The opportunity to bring in an established and respected baseball figure such as Roberto Clemente Jr. was one that we immediately jumped on. Roberto is the perfect host to integrate the Latino community’s passion for baseball into WFAN’s extensive coverage of the sport.”

On joining WFAN, Clemente Jr. said, “I am very excited and honored to have this opportunity with the No. 1 sports station in the country. As the first Latino to host a sports show on an English speaking station, I hope to help open doors for others to do the same.”

Co-host Tanyette Colon stated, “I am extremely happy to be joining a legendary station such as WFAN and I also feel very fortunate to be able to work with someone like Roberto, who has such strong ties to the community and the sports world.”
