WGN News’ Anchor on WLEY-FM ‘La Ley 107.9FM” with Omar ‘El Plebe’.

Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (SBS) announced that its Chicago station WLEY-FM “La Ley 107.9FM” will be launching starting Monday, October 29, 2012, during Omar “El Plebe’s” midday show, a segment with “WGN News at Five” Anchor Lourdes Duarte who will be providing daily news briefs during the show and discussing the important topics of the day at 2:50 p.m. (CT) each weekday. Lourdes and Omar “El Plebe” will converse about important topics and other issues that matter most to the Latino community in Chicago.

“Omar “El Plebe” and Lourdes Duarte are a fantastic duo. We’re thrilled to count with an experience anchor like Lourdes on our team,” said Jeff Delgado Local Sales Manager of WLEY-FM “La Ley 107.9FM” for SBS. “We’re certain that Chicago’s Spanish-language listeners will appreciate her knowledge on different topics, especially the ones that are important to the Latino community.”

Lourdes Duarte currently hosts “Adelante Chicago” one of WGN-TV’s public affairs shows as well as “WGN News at Five”. Duarte joined WGN-TV five years ago as a general assignment reporter. Duarte maintains a strong presence in the Latino community.  She has won several awards including her most recent Emmy® Award for her work on “Hoy en Dia” and Society of Professional Journalists Awards for Minority Issues Reporting.  Most recently, she won an Emmy® Award for her work on “Adelante Chicago.”
