WIIH-TV Coming To Comcast In Indiana.

Scott Blumenthal, regional vice president for the LIN Television Corporation, parent company for WIIH and WISH-TV, announced the launch of WIIH-Univision For Indiana, on Comcast.

“In response to the growing Hispanic population in central Indiana, earlier in the year, LIN Television and WISH-TV announced the premiere of WIIH, the first Univision television station in Indiana,” said Blumenthal. “Now with the number one Hispanic network in the country and a local source for news and information, WIIH will be providing the services needed for the changing face of the Indianapolis community.”

WIIH-Univision For Indiana, which debuted on February 3, 2003, will be available on Comcast, Channel 18 as part of their limited basic cable service effective Wednesday, October 15, 2003.

“We are thrilled to extend the reach of WIIH and offer our services to even more central Indiana viewers thanks to this partnership with Comcast,” said Marco Dominguez, WIIH station manager.

“The addition of WIIH is an important step in adding to our already diverse channel line-up,” said Rusty Robertson, Comcast area vice president. “We have a robust lineup of Spanish programming on Comcast Digital Cable, but this is our first Spanish network on Basic Cable. The Univision brand is very strong in the Hispanic community, and WIIH’s addition of local news only strengthens the program offering. It gives us a product that our competitors can’t offer.”
