WMGG-AM Tampa flips to the La Preciosa Adult Mexican format.

Mega Communication’s 50,000-watt station WMGG-AM in Tampa – will begin airing the La Preciosa format on December 1, 2007 at 12 noon. WMGG-AM La Preciosa 820 will target Adults of Mexican and Central American descent with hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s from artists like Javier Solis, Antonio Aquilar, Jorge Negrete and much more.

The Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater region has seen its Hispanic population soar in recent years. This growth has been driven by the exploding influx of Mexican and Central Americans. Mega Communications already owns and operates WLCC-AM La Ley 760, which targets a younger Mexican audience. Together, the two stations will give advertisers the opportunity to reach the entire Mexican population in the region – which now represents a very significant portion of the region’s Hispanic population.

Rafael Grullon, VP of Operations and Programming for Mega Communications will continue to oversee the stations. “The growth of the Mexican and Central American community in the Tampa area has been explosive. La Preciosa 820 will perfectly compliment La Ley 760 in terms of their demographics. La Preciosa targets more of a 25-54 listener while La Ley is clearly aimed at the younger 18-34 Mexican listener.”

WMGG La Preciosa 820 will have live personalities in all dayparts beginning with Alex ‘El Genio’ Lucas in AM Drive. Lucas has over 18 years of radio experience. ‘El Genio’s’ morning show will be a full service variety program and will include music, entertainment, sports, news, weather and traffic.
