World Premiere of “¡Adelita! The Women of the Mexican Revolution”.

The Mexican Heritage Corporation (MHC) announces the world premiere of “¡Adelita! The Women of the Mexican Revolution” — A musical adventure. The theatrical event will be held Sept. 25 at the San Jose State Event Center Arena and will feature a special tribute to civil rights activist and Latino cultural icon Dolores Huerta in celebration of her 80th birthday.

¡Adelita! a new theatrical piece conceived by Grammy winner Linda Ronstadt and created and directed by Dan Guerrero, tells the gripping story of the women who fought in the Mexican Revolution — a story of bravery, loyalty, courage, love and passion that weaves music, dance, and historic visual projections to create a magical fable. Guerrero, who was named one of the 25 most powerful Latinos in Hollywood by Hispanic Magazine, was selected by Ronstadt to create and direct the production. Ronstadt also serves as the Festival’s Artistic Director.

This new work features original choreography by Susan Cashion, narrative by Daniel Buckley, new media scenic design by Daniel Foster and performances by Mexico City chanteuse Eugenia Leon, and the world class Mariachi Cobre and Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano.
