WXTV UNIVISION 41 wins BIG at New York Emmy Awards.

WXTV Univision 41 in New York won six Emmy awards at this year’s New York Emmy Awards ceremony. WXTV’s morning newscast, “Noticias Univision 41 Al Despertar” won the night’s leading recognition in the category of Best Morning Newscast. Every year, the prestigious New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) honors excellence in broadcasting among the New York tri-state area industry’s finest.
 
“Leading industry associates as well as our peers in the television industry continue to recognize the work of WXTV Univision 41.  We are very proud of our latest accomplishments and will continue to inform our community with stories that empower our viewers,” said Norma Morato, WXTV Univision 41’s news director. “I am honored to be part of such a dedicated team”.
 
The station’s Emmy winners, listed by their respective categories, are as follows:
 
·         Morning Newscast – 9/11 Tenth Year Anniversary. Noticias Univision 41 Al Despertar
 
·         Investigative Single Story – 41 Counterfeit Goods. Berenice Gartner, reporter
 
·         Feature News: Series – 9/11 Rebuilding the Pride.  Mariela Salgado, reporter
 
·         Health/Science: News – Sophia: Fighting for her Life. Mariela Salgado, reporter
 
·         Religion: News/Feature – Pope Visits Mexico. Adriana Vargas, news anchor
 
·         Writer: Short Form/Commentary/Editorial. Miriam Coletta, promotions director
 
This year, “Noticias Univision 41” anchor Adriana Vargas won her first Emmy.  Reporters Berenice Gartner and Mariela Salgado have also been recognized by NATAS with eight and four Emmy awards, respectively.
