Yahoo! Telemundo launches Copa America 2007 site.

Yahoo! Telemundo launched its Copa América 2007 site on Yahoo! Telemundo Deportes (yahootelemundo.com/copaamerica). The site features general tournament news, play-by-play reports, photos, videos, real-time statistics, game calendars and live results, as well as dedicated pages for each of the 12 teams and profiles that highlight news and statistics for each of the more than 300 players.

In addition, Cesar Luis “el flaco” Menotti – a former Argentine soccer star who coached Argentina’s national team to a World Cup title in 1978 and also coached some of Mexico’s and Spain’s best soccer clubs – and Ricardo Peláez – soccer commentator and former Mexican soccer all-star, who represented Mexico at the FIFA World Cup in 1998 – have signed-on to contribute columns on the Copa America tournament on Yahoo! Telemundo Deportes. The deal with Menotti and Peláez allows fans to read commentary on several matches from an expert’s point of view.

“Our Copa América 2007 site keeps users connected to the action as its happening,” said Jose Rivera-Font, general manager, Yahoo! Hispanic Americas. “Now fans can share their passions with other users through forums, polls and team rankings, as well as express their opinions on Yahoo! Telemundo Respuestas.”

“This interactive, up-to-the-minute site pools together resources from a variety of different media platforms,” said Peter Blacker, Senior Vice President of Digital Media, Telemundo. “The end result is a comprehensive site that brings together news, statistics, play-by-play reports, photos, videos and much more, giving soccer fans a paramount online experience.”
