Yahoo! Telemundo reveals BUZZ-worthy searches for March.

Yahoo! Telemundo announced its Top 10 Searches for the month ending March 31 http://yahootelemundo.com/lomasbuscado>, which include the Top 10 overall searches, image searches and music searches for the month.

There was a sudden surge in searches for infidelity tests last month, which comes as no surprise given the recent national scandal of New York governor Eliot Spitzer who resigned after allegedly being linked to a high-priced prostitute. Apparently the media frenzy that ensued from the Spitzer scandal got many to question their current relationships and search for indicators of unfaithfulness and also peeked an interest as to who the “the other woman” was — making 22-year-old aspiring singer and former escort Ashley Alexandra Dupre the second most searched item on the list. Many were also searching for the best of Spring Break; however, there was no break for fans who continued their incessant searches for their favorite celebrity beauties such as Camille Belle, currently starring in the monolithic hit film, 10,000 B.C. and Colombian bikini model Ana Sofia Henao, who is also known as one of the most ‘downloaded’ women on the Internet. There was also much buzz about Jennifer Lopez, especially surrounding the birth of her adorable twins. Internationals Woman’s Day (Dia Internacional de la Mujer), celebrated on March 8, is a major
day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women, and was also of interest to Yahoo! Telemundo users. Last, but not least, the release of the popular Guinness World Records for 2008 got many users to look up the newest and most off-the-wall additions to the celebrated list.

Screensavers nabbed the number one slot for the most searched image category in March; but overall, Latin beauties continue to rule this category with celebrities such as Mexican-American actress Eva Longoria, new mom Salma Hayek, as well as Latina TV news personalities Lisa Guerrero and Jackie Guerrido. Images of Mexican actress and novella star, Kate del Castillo were also quite popular last month perhaps due to her big screen debut in the highly acclaimed new film, “La Misma Luna.” Images of the popular Japanese anime character Naruto also made the list probably due to its rise in popularity with kids around the world.

Colombian superstar Shakira tops the list of the most searched in the Music category followed by Latin Grammy-nominated Puerto Rican reggaeton duo, Wisin y Yandel. Don Omar, another Latin Grammy-nominated reggaeton star from Puerto Rico, also topped the list as many also searched for the latest on his impending wedding to TV personality Jackie Guerrido (who also made it to the above-mentioned Top 10 Image Searches list). Iconic 90’s pop girl-group, the Spice Girls, seem to still in demand after all these years due to the recent conclusion of their “The Return of the Spice Girls” World Tour. Also, users searched for the term “Emo” (short for “emotional”) which is a type of emotionally-charged punk rock person that has garnered recent media attention.

After decades of ruling the stage, iconic singers/actresses Gloria Trevi and Madonna both still have what it takes to be among the most searched for, while more recent music scene inductees, Hannah Montana and Amy Winehouse, continue on their meteoric rise in popularity among music fans.
