YO ME LLAMO comes to Telemundo.

Telemundo announced the U.S. premiere of “Yo Me Llamo” (My Name Is), a talent competition show where the country’s most talented amateur singers/performers vie for a $100,000 in cash and prizes by transforming themselves into their favorite musical icons, on Sunday, September 9 at 9pm/8c. Hosted by novela superstar Gaby Espino, the internationally-successful reality show, will feature a panel of three celebrity judges including regional Mexican star Lupillo Rivera, renowned TV host Penelope Menchaca and famous Mexican impersonator Samia. “Yo Me Llamo” fans will be be able to follow the show via www.facebook/YoMeLlamoUS. “We’re pleased to bring this innovative and dynamic show to our Sunday night lineup,” said Maria Lopez-Alvarez, Senior VP of Alternative Programming at Telemundo. “The contestants not only have to be great singers, they also have to be multi-faceted performers,” the executive concluded.

In auditions held across major cities including Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, Puerto Rico and Miami, 15 competitors will be selected during the first three shows to imitate, and even resemble, some of the top performers in Latin entertainment, such as Thalia, Marc Anthony, Jose Jose, Luis Fonsi, Ricardo Arjona, Jennifer Lopez, among others. Contestants were also able to audition online by uploading their videos to www.YoMeLlamocasting.com.

The 15 contestants will undergo a complete transformation to emulate their favorite star, which includes changing their looks, learning how to move like the real star and improving their vocal range. A team of coaches, including choreographers, make-up artists, vocal coaches and stylists, will help the contestants, and make the jury look twice. The panel of jurors will judge their stage presentations in order for them to advance to the next level of the competition. The final decision will come from the audience, who will be able to vote based on the contestant popularity and performance. The grand winner of “Yo Me Llamo” will receive $100,000 in cash and prizes.

“Yo Me Llamo” will be hosted by Gaby Espino, undoubtedly one of the most renowned telenovela actresses in the U.S. and international television. The beautiful Venezuelan star has taken the lead role in numerous Telemundo original productions including “Más Sabe el Diablo,” Ojo por Ojo,” “Sin Vergüenza,” and a special act in “El Rostro de Analia.” Espino, who made the list of the 50 Most Beautiful People in People en Español, is co-hosting the first ever Telemundo’s “Premios Tu Mundo.” She has been the image of numerous ad campaigns in Venezuela, Mexico and the United States. Her presence in film is characterized through her participation in “La Mujer de mi Hermano” in 2005 and “Elipsis” in 2006.

The show also features a celebrity panel of judges that includes Regional Mexican star, Lupillo Rivera, also known as El Toro del Corrido (Corrido’s Bull). Rivera has been honored with 10 gold records, and is the recipient of many awards including six Billboard Latin Music Awards and one Latin Grammy. Penelope Menchaca is the star of “12 Corazones” (12 Hearts,) a Telemundo dating show that combines astrology and love. Penelope also co-hosts “TV Millones” (Televisa), and has previously co-hosted Telemundo’s “Miss Universe 2006” and Latin Billboard Music Awards. Samia is an actress, singer, imitator and radio personality with more than 15 years of experience. Her characterizations of the most famous Latin singers have positioned her as one of Mexico’s best-known comedians. She has appeared in many popular shows, including “La Parodia,” “El Privilegio de Mandar,” “Hazme Reir” and “Hoy.”
