Zerafa – GM @ ImpreMedia Digital.

ImpreMedia announced the appointment of Mary Zerafa to the newly created position of General Manager of ImpreMedia Digital. Reporting to Jose Lozano, Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President of ImpreMedia, Zerafa will oversee all Internet and digital initiatives for the company’s properties.

“We publish seven newspapers in six U.S. markets which are together home to more than 16 million Hispanics – more than 37% of the total U.S. Hispanic population. Through our digital initiatives we will increase our reach even further,” stated John Paton, Chairman and CEO of ImpreMedia.

“While we are already the number one Spanish language network of online news sites, there remains enormous opportunity to further leverage our print publications and the top notch journalism we provide to the Latino community,” continued Lozano. “Our goal is to grow our audience with our existing websites while at the same time forging into other innovative approaches and platforms to better serve our customers.”

“Today, more than 14 million Hispanics surf the Web, and Internet usage is growing faster among Hispanics than non-Hispanics. Latinos over index in using broadband and are heavy consumers of mobile communications,” stated Zerafa. “We want to take advantage of that.”

Zerafa served previously as Corporate Director of Marketing for ImpreMedia and Vice President of Market Development and New Media for La Opinión. From 2000 to 2005, Zerafa served as Director of New Media for La Opinión.
