Zyman Group Acquires Grupo MAS.
September 2, 2006
Zyman Group announced the acquisition of Grupo MAS, a boutique consultancy headquartered in Atlanta that specializes in business strategy development and marketing targeting the U.S. Hispanic market.
Alfredo Ortiz, founder, president and chairman of Grupo MAS, who will join Zyman as the head of its Multicultural Practice, and Tim Pearson, President and CEO of Zyman Group, made the announcement at a joint appearance at the 13th Annual Ethnic & Multicultural Marketing Omnibus, held annually in Atlanta. The acquisition is effective October 1, 2006. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“I am proud to be joining Zyman,” Mr. Ortiz said in his remarks. “Zyman and Grupo MAS both drive business results and return on investment by advising our clients on how to target the Hispanic market; design their Marketing to Hispanic (M2H) strategy; leverage every touch point; and measure success. More importantly, Zyman approaches multicultural marketing
from the same perspective that we do: We believe that while companies have recognized the Hispanic opportunity, they have not yet ‘cracked the code’ to actively capture it. From a business and marketing perspective relying on the traditional Hispanic agencies’ tactics is not doing it. A sound multicultural strategy is needed more than ever before,” Ortiz said.
Tim Pearson, president and CEO of Zyman Group, said, “Grupo MAS’s deep understanding of the multicultural marketplace was best demonstrated when it was chosen to co-author the 2005 Yankelovich MONITOR Multicultural Marketing Study – the only one of its kind to offer comparative and contrasting views of the African American, U.S. Hispanic and Non-Hispanic White marketplaces. With this acquisition, Zyman is further positioned as the pre-eminent multicultural marketing consultancy in the country. No one understands this marketplace better, whether it’s advising a U.S. company on selling to the multicultural marketplace, or working with companies in Latin America that are evaluating their entrance into the U.S. marketplace and want to effectively penetrate both the General Market and Hispanic segments. We are pleased to welcome Alfredo and his team to Zyman,” Pearson concluded.
