New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF) – 2019 Winners

The New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF), celebrated its 16th anniversary with star-studded events and films, celebrating the Latino film industry and content creators from August 12 to 18. More than 1500 moviegoers supported more than 83 films from established and emerging filmmakers, with more than 10 countries represented. A variety of genres and formats were presented, including features, shorts, documentaries, web series and experimental films. Winners were announced at the conclusion of the Festival on Sunday, August 18, 2019 in the categories of International Feature, Documentary, U.S. Feature, Short Film, and Honorable Mention. In addition, in its first year, NYLFF in partnership with HBO Latino presented the”Latinos Stand-Up” competition in search of the best Latino stand-up comedians around the country. Over 300 entries were received and six finalists competed in front of a live audience and judging panel on Friday, August 16, 2019.

NGL Studios announces World Premiere of Raúl Juliá: The World’s A Stage

For two weeks I suffered the anguish of not knowing if my mother was dead or alive. I realized that I was not alone and my uncertainty, pain, and despair, along with thousands of others, became known to the world”  said Deynes who is the author, creator, and director of the film.

Global Theatrical and Home Entertainment Market Reached $96.8 Billion in 2018

The global entertainment market reached $96.8 billion in 2018 – a nine percent increase over 2017 – according to new, combined theatrical and home entertainment data released by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The 2018 global box office grew to $41.1 billioni, while global home entertainment increased by 16 percent over 2017 levels to reach $55.7 billion.

Emilio Guede Fernández passes

Emilio Guede Fernández, a pioneer of advertising film production in Puerto Rico, died in Miami last Saturday, July 28th, at the age 90. He was the founder of Guede Films, in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, a company that opened up offices in New York to service the U.S. Hispanic Market and had offices in Guatemala, Colombia and Panama. Guede was a cinematographer who worked as director and photographer on many television spots for many ad agencies in Puerto Rico, Latin America and the United States. A list of his commercials or those produced by his company includes brands such as AT&T, Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Banco Popular and many others.
