El Diario La Prensa achieves highest circulation & readership growth rate among NYC newspapers.

El Diario La Prensa announced that its circulation increased 5.8% daily and 8.4% on Sunday, as reported by the Fas-Fax Sept. 2006 statement. Additionally, El Diario’s daily readership experienced an extraordinary year over year growth rate of 25%, based on Scarborough Research 2006 R1. This gives El Diario La Prensa the highest circulation and readership growth rate of any major New York newspaper.

467 years of Hispanic Publishing.

In celebration of a five centuries old tradition of community service, the National Association of Hispanic Publications [NAHP] commemorated National Hispanic Media Week and the 467th Anniversary of Hispanic Publishing in North America in Washington, DC. The occasion has been formally marked with resolutions in the United States Senate and House of Representatives acknowledging the week of October 8 through 14 as National Hispanic Print Media Week.

Majority of Hispanics are Politically Influenced By Hispanic Newspapers.

A majority of Hispanics (84.1 percent) are more likely to vote affirmative if a candidate or issue provides information to the community through their local Hispanic newspapers, according to a recent telephone survey conducted by Ethnic Print Media Group.

La Opinión celebrates its 80th Anniversary.

La Opinión is celebrating 80 years of news coverage and community service on September 16, 2006.

To mark this milestone, La Opinión will publish two commemorative sections. On September 8, the 80th anniversary Días Festivos supplement will highlight the 80-year history of La Opinión and look at how Latinos are shaping the future of the region. In addition, the many the independence celebrations of Latin American countries will be showcased.
