Delivering Connectivity To Low-income Communities….One Economy Turns 5.

One Economy may not be a household name yet. But in five short years, the organization already has become the most impactful technology-based nonprofit in the United States.

One Economy, whose mission is to maximize the potential of technology to help low-income people improve their lives and enter the economic mainstream, marked its five-year anniversary by introducing two annual awards at a gala celebration at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

HPRA Honors Esteemed Latinos.

The event held on October 19th featured award presentations to Actor Edward James Olmos, HOY Newspaper President Gisselle Acevedo-Franco, KABC-TV Los Angeles Anchor Henry Alfaro and Verizon Communications.

ANA Announces Finalists For 2005 Multicultural Excellence Awards.

The Association of National Advertisers announced the finalists for the 2005 Multicultural Excellence Awards. Now in its fifth year, the awards recognize ANA member companies and marketers that have produced outstanding multicultural advertising campaigns that ran between June 2004 and May 2005.

Telemundo ‘Corporation Of The Year’ @ MANA.

Telemundo announced it will be honored with a MANA Corporation of the Year Award, at MANA’s “Las Primeras Awards Gala” to be held this Thursday, October 13, 2005 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. Telemundo is being recognized for its efforts to promote self-esteem among Latinas through its telenovela, La Mujer en el Espejo. The star of the show, Colombian actress Paola Rey (La Mujer en el Espejo, Pasión de Gavilanes,) will be present to receive the award and Telelmundo’s own Candela Ferro (Decisiones, Miss Universe, Tsunami Benefit) will host the event.

Patricia Diaz Dennis Chair Of Girl Scouts National Board of Directors.

Girl Scouts of the USA has elected Patricia Diaz Dennis as its new Chair of the National Board of Directors. As the highest volunteer position in the organization, Diaz Dennis was selected on the basis of her long-standing commitment to Girl Scouting, as well as her ability to provide leadership, vision, and support to the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls.

HPRA National AD HOC Committee For 2006.

The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) is currently accepting submissions from interested individuals who would like to be a part of a national ad hoc committee to further expand HPRA’s presence across the country.

The Hispanic Marketing & Public Relations Weblog & Book.

A new Hispanic Marketing & Public Relations Weblog http://www.hispanicmpr.com for marketing professionals and students was launched recently. Centered on the upcoming Hispanic Marketing & Public Relations book due out later this year, the weblog includes author biographies, Hispanic marketing and public relations news and serves as a forum for authors and visitors to post comments and share insights. The new book provides more than 350 pages of information, case studies, charts, tables, graphs, market data and opinions based on the knowledge of nineteen U.S. Hispanic market experts. Proceeds will benefit the Hispanic Marketing & Communication Association, HMCA.
