Spanish-Language Broadcasters join forces to express concerns about Arbitron’s Portable People Meter

Spanish-language radio broadcasters Spanish Broadcasting System, Entravision Communications Corporation, Univision Communications and Border Media Partners have formed an industry-focused committee to voice concerns about Arbitron’s proposed rollout of the Portable People Meter (PPM) and the potentially harmful impact it could have on the Hispanic marketplace. The newly created group has been named the Spanish Radio Association (“SRA”).

AHAA Chairman José López-Varela, in his first initiative as the newly elected leader of the organization, announced the formation of an Advisory Council to explore industry issues and opportunities surrounding Arbitron’s Portable People Meter (PPM).

Raul Alarcon Sr. to receive Medallas De Cortez Lifetime Achievement Award.

Raul Alarcon Sr., founder and Director Emeritus of Spanish Broadcasting System, will be honored with the Medallas de Cortez Lifetime Achievement Award, the Hispanic radio industry’s most prestigious award, at the annual Radio Ink Hispanic Radio Conference. The conference will be held May 19-20 at the Biltmore Hotel in Miami-Coral Gables.
