Batanga, Inc. announced the acquisition of MetroFlog and partner sites, MetroBlog and MetroPostales. On the heels of acquiring two leading online media companies, Adfunky and I-Network, Batanga, Inc., has now added all three premium Hispanic-focused properties to its roster of owned and operated websites.

Total advertising expenditures in the first six months of 2011 increased 3.2 percent from a year ago and finished the period at $71.5 billion, according to data released today by Kantar Media, the leading provider of strategic advertising and marketing information. Spending growth eased slightly during the second quarter and was up 2.8 percent compared to last year.

Over the last year, there have been several Hispanic Ad pundits that have tried to predict the demise of Hispanic Ad Agencies and Spanish-dominant media in the USA.

Some of these pundits have presented their facts as they see them and others are just Hucksters looking to position themselves as experts and/or position their companies, even if it means pouring dirty dishwater in everyone else’s soup.

The “cameo” appearance by Telemundo’s main news anchor, Jose Diaz Balart during Wednesday evening’s Republican Presidential candidates debate, while likely well intentioned by all involved, shows the need to do more homework as to US Hispanic market sensitivities by executives of both MSNBC and Telemundo, which are co-owned by NBCUniversal.
