Arenas named VP Consumer Products at Univision Enterprises.

Univision Communications announced that it has named Francisco Arenas vice president, Consumer Products, Univision Enterprises. In this role Arenas will focus on both owned properties as well as third party partners’ licensing opportunities. He will be based in New York, reporting to Rick Alessandri, senior vice president, Univision Enterprises.

Sancho BBDO of Bogota, Colombia is the most effective individual agency office. Wieden+Kennedy, based in Portland, Oregon, USA is the most effective independently held advertising agency.

Media Execs see Digital Revenues Growth.

More than 90 percent of the communications and media business leaders expect digital revenues to grow this year and more than a third anticipate increases greater than 10 percent, according to the results of the annual Communications and Media Industry Business Climate Survey by KPMG LLP, the audit, tax, and advisory firm.

Nielsen signs US Cooperation Agreement with Walmart.

Nielsen has signed a cooperation agreement with Walmart to receive and analyze sales information from Walmart’s U.S. stores. The agreement marks Walmart’s return to the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry’s information sharing model.

Global ad expenditure to return to pre-recession peak level this year.

ZenithOptimedia now predicts global ad expenditure will grow by 4.1% in 2011, just 0.1 percentage points below the prediction we made in April. It will return to US$471 billion, the level it reached in 2008 before the recession. The ad market continues to recover from the 2009 recession, but growth has dipped this year in response to economic pressures, natural disaster and political disruption. More robust growth is forecast to resume in 2012 and 2013.
