Chozas named President of Círculo Creativo del Mercado Hispano.

Curro Chozas – Associate Creative Director at Grupo Gallegos has been named the new President of the Círculo Creativo del Mercado Hispano. Prior to becoming President of the organization, Mr. Chozas was the Vice President of the organization.

Gisela Girard to lead Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies.

Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) Chairman Jose Lopez-Varela, passed the gavel and chairmanship of the trade organization representing 98 percent of U.S. Hispanic-specialized marketers to Gisela Girard, president and COO of Creative Civilization — An Aguilar/Girard Agency in San Antonio. In the annual transition of leadership at the spring AHAA Conference in Las Vegas, Girard shared her thoughts, hopes and desires for the industry in the coming year.

AAF to honor WalMart.

The American Advertising Federation (AAF) Tenth District will present its highest honor of leadership and innovation in advertising to Walmart Stores, Inc. and the retailer’s portfolio of agencies including GlobalHue; I W Group; Lopez Negrete; the Martin Agency; and MediaVest at a ceremony May 7, 2009, in Rogers, Ark. The award acknowledges the company for its “Save money. Live better.” brand positioning campaign.

Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies forms Online Measurement Task Force.

José López-Varela, chairman of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA), recently tapped several of the organization’s members to lead an initiative designed to unify agencies, research companies and online publishers and deliver more precise Hispanic market online data. Members of the newly formed AHAA Online Measurement Task Force met for the first time in New York, NY in November to discuss the issues and next steps.

Roberto Orcí joins Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies Board of Directors.

At a meeting of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) Board of Directors on November 7th, Roberto Orcí, president of Acento, was unanimously selected by fellow agency leaders to fill a board member vacancy in the western region.

ANA Announces finalists for 2008 Multicultural Excellence Awards.

The Association of National Advertisers today announced the finalists for the 2008 Multicultural Excellence Awards. Now in its eighth year, the awards recognize ANA member companies and marketers for their work in producing superior multicultural advertising campaigns that ran between June 2007 and May 2008.

Esther Novak appointed to AHAA Board.

José López-Varela, Chairman of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA), announced the appointment of Esther Novak, founder and CEO of VanguardComm – a New Jersey-based multi-cultural marketing communications firm – to the board of directors of AHAA.

Arbitron to Respond to list of concerns raised by AHAA PPM Advisory Council.

In April, José López-Varela announced the creation of the AHAA PPM Advisory Council, designed to explore industry issues and opportunities surrounding Arbitron’s Portable People Meter (PPM), the new electronic radio broadcast measurement system. The AHAA Advisory Council comprises representatives from various AHAA member agencies, Hispanic Radio Broadcasters and Arbitron.
