ImpreMedia buys Hoy New York.

Tribune Publishing announced the sale of Hoy New York, its Spanish-language daily newspaper, to ImpreMedia, LLC. The sale, which is expected to close during the first quarter of 2007, does not include the Hoy publications in Los Angeles and Chicago. Terms were not disclosed.

Marketing y Medios presented the 2006 Hispanic Marketers of the Year Awards.

Adweek’s Marketing y Medios announced its second annual Hispanic Marketers of the Year last night at the opening dinner of the Association of National Advertisers’ (ANA) Multicultural Marketing Conference.

The IAB creates Mobile comitee.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) announced the creation of the IAB Mobile Committee at the IAB Leadership Forum: Agency Summit. As an extension of the IAB’s overall mission, to increase the share of advertising and marketing dollars that Interactive media captures in the marketplace, the IAB Mobile Committee will focus on developing mobile as a viable advertising platform for marketers and agencies.

ANA announces finalists for 2006 Multicultural Excellence Awards.

The Association of National Advertisers today announced the finalists for the 2006 Multicultural Excellence Awards. Now in its sixth year, the awards recognize ANA member companies and marketers that have produced outstanding multicultural advertising campaigns that ran between June 2005 and May 2006.

Ronald Gordon elected President of Independent Spanish Broadcasters Association.

Ronald J. Gordon was elected as the new President of the Independent Spanish Broadcasters Association (ISBA). Mr. Gordon is the founder and majority shareholder of ZGS Communications, Inc., a Hispanic-owned Spanish-language communications company with interest in television and radio stations, including the largest independent group of television stations affiliated with the Telemundo network.

21st Imagen Awards honorees in film & television.

A number of popular Latino actors were honored at the 21st Annual Imagen Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Hosted by Lorenzo Lamas, sixteen awards were presented in categories including film and television, plus The Imagen Foundation presented five additional awards including Creative Achievement, Lifetime Achievement, President’s Award, the Norman Lear Award, and the Foundation’s first National Leadership Award. The Imagen Awards were established in 1985 to encourage and recognize the positive portrayal of Latinos in all media and to increase Latino representation at all levels of the entertainment industry.

IAB announces a distinct Hispanic category for the MIXX Awards.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the IAB Hispanic Committee announced the addition of a separate category for the MIXX Awards focused specifically on Interactive advertising targeted towards the Hispanic community. The addition of this new category is part of an ongoing effort by IAB’s Hispanic Committee to further educate advertisers and agencies on the marketing benefits and value of using Interactive to reach the Hispanic community.

Taking a bold position on future of Hispanic Marketing.

The Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) announced the transition of leadership to new Chairman Carl Kravetz, chairman/chief strategic officer of cruz/kravetz:IDEAS and the election of Chair-Elect Jackie Bird, president/CEO of winglatino. The AHAA Board of Directors created and approved a new board seat, Vice Chair, to ensure continuity in the association leadership and Jose López-Varela, vice president/managing director of abecé was elected to the position.

NAHP announces José Martí Awards.

The National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) announced a call for entries for the José Martí Awards which recognize excellence in publishing.

Hispanic Public Relations Association Announces 2006 Officers.

The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) announces that Romina Bongiovanni, western region manager at Edelman Diversity Solutions, is returning this year to lead the organization, while Leticia Rhi Buckley, the director of marketing and communications for the Music Center – Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County takes on the Vice President role.
