Brita announced that it is a sponsor for the Spanish-language weight-loss reality show, “Dale Con Ganas” (Give It Your All) which will track the experience of four Hispanic/Latino families as they battle obesity, working together to lose weight.

Moms prefer Digital Shopping over In-Store.

Two recent studies verify this truism by showing that women spend less time with media outlets such as TV and magazines—but more time online—after becoming a mom. An Eric Mower and Associates survey, for example, found that more than half of new mothers spend less time watching TV (59%) and reading magazines (55%), and that 59% also spent less time shopping in stores. The percentages are similar for moms as they have more children or their kids get older.

U.S. Population: 312.8 Million on New Year’s Day.

The U.S. Census Bureau projected the Jan. 1, 2012, total United States population will be 312,780,968. This would represent an increase of 2,250,129, or 0.7 percent, from New Year’s Day 2011, and an increase of 4,035,430, or 1.3 percent, since Census Day (April 1, 2010).

It has long been a daunting task to stay in lock step with the shopper mindset. After all, mindsets are a moving target and can quickly change due to a variety of reasons, including purchase needs and time considerations. These considerations dictate the type of trip, or trip mission, which permeates every aspect of the shopping trip from beginning to end.

Marketers use Online Video to Complement – Not Cannibalize TV Ads.

The growing enthusiasm for online video advertising signals that the web can and should continue to capture a larger share of brand dollars. Though advertisers and agencies are often increasing their investments in digital video advertising at the expense of offline branding efforts, findings from DIGIDAY and Adap.tv suggest funding also comes at the expense of current display advertising budgets.

Multicultural Spend on Entertainment.

With our national online data collected in 2011, students in the graduate Multicultural Marketing Communication course and I measured some key indicators of entertainment spending in the multicultural marketplace. We have known that Hispanics and other emerging minorities tend to watch more movies in theaters and also rent more to watch at home than non-Hispanic Whites . Ethnic Groups don’t see Themselves in Advertising, Digital Content.

Brands that want to reach ethnic minorities online are not doing a very good job, according to some research. An April 2011 survey by Yahoo!, Mindshare and Added Value found that according to Hispanics, blacks and Asian-Americans, digital advertising does not engage them. When asked for three brands doing a good job reaching them, most said they couldn’t name even one.

2011 HACR Corporate Inclusion Index.

The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) released the results of its 2011 HACR Corporate Inclusion Index (HACR CII) survey. The index serves as a core component of HACR’s Corporate Accountability Strategy that tracks and evaluates the Hispanic inclusion practices of Fortune 100 companies and HACR corporate partners. This is done with a focus on HACR’s four pillars of corporate social responsibility and market reciprocity: employment, procurement, philanthropy and governance.

San Antonio ranks Highest for NBA Excitement.

The latest Scarborough Sports Marketing study examines the fans and cities that should be most excited for the return of the NBA. Avid NBA Fans make up 9% (22M) of all American adults age 18+. Scarborough Sports Marketing defines Avid Fans as American adults who say they are “very interested” in a given sport. Additionally, 5% of American adults attended an NBA game in the past 12 months.

Texas gains the Most in population since the Census 2010.

Texas gained more people than any other state between April 1, 2010, and July 1, 2011 (529,000), followed by California (438,000), Florida (256,000), Georgia (128,000) and North Carolina (121,000), according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau estimates for states and Puerto Rico. Combined, these five states accounted for slightly more than half the nation’s total population growth.
