Isabela Sanchez joins Zubi Advertising to run the Media Department.

Isabela Sanchez was introduced as the new Media Planning Guru at Coral Gables based Zubi Advertising. The agency has gone through some changes in their media department in the last year with the sudden departure of veteran media planning executive Lula Olmedo. Who was replaced by the high profile Latin American media planning executive Javier Mantilla., who left the agency abruptly in less than a year.

Industry insiders speculate that the agency is having some internal issues.

The new Arizona law that was passed recently that allows the police to question the national origin of an individual is a very difficult issue to address openly in social and traditional media, due to the opposing views on the issue. A very divisive topic.

Coral Gables based Zubi Advertising posted a piece on their blog “gringo Mask” that proposed that Mexican or other immigrants use cut-out pictures that the agency offered of a Gringos (basically white people) and wearing it to deceive the police.

Javier Saralegui joins Sí TV Board.

Sí TV announced that Javier Saralegui has joined its board. Saralegui served as president and chief operating officer of Univision Online and President of Galavisión for a combined 20 years.

The announcement was made by Michael Schwimmer, Sí TV’s chief executive officer.

KANTAR Media – US Ad Expenditures up 5.1% in Q1 2010.

Total advertising expenditures in the first quarter of 2010 rose 5.1 percent from a year ago and finished the period at $31.3 billion, according to data released today by Kantar Media, the leading provider of strategic advertising and marketing information. This marks the first increase in quarterly ad spending since Q1 2008 and the largest gain since Q1 2006, as the ad market finally experienced a long-awaited rebound.

Lozano new CEO of ImpreMedia.

The ImpreMedia Board of Directors has elected Monica C. Lozano as chief executive officer of the company. She will assume the office immediately.

Lozano has been in a leadership position at impreMedia since its founding in January 2004, and has over 25 years of Hispanic media experience across virtually all business lines. She is currently publisher and CEO of La Opinión, and SVP impreMedia, overseeing the company’s publishing group including America’s oldest Spanish language daily, El Diario La Prensa in New York.
