The Latin Recording Academy and Spanish-language television network Univision announced a new, multiyear partnership, which commences with the production and airing of the 6th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards on Nov. 3, 2005 .

Telemundo Viewers Vote @ 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Telemundo is urging viewers to make their vote count by visiting http://www.telemundo.com between now and April 21 at 5pm (4pm/c) and voting for their favorite Latin star. The “Viewer’s Choice Award” will be announced at this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards which is set to take place Thursday, April 28th at 7PM in the Miami Arena.

Solis & Guerra To Be Honored @ 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards, the most important and prestigious event in Latin music, will honor the extraordinary careers of two of Latin music’s biggest stars, singer/songwriter Marco Antonio Solis with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Tropical singer Juan Luis Guerra with this year’s Spirit of Hope Award. The artists will be saluted at the 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards, which will be broadcast live from the Miami Arena by Telemundo on Thursday, April 28 at 7PM ET/PT.

Universal Music Launches Record Label Dedicated To Reggaeton.

In a move which underscores its commitment to expanding the marketplace for new genres of music, particularly in the Latin music area, Universal Music Group (UMG) announced the formation of Machete Music, the first full service, start-up label from a major record company dedicated to the burgeoning Latin urban music market with a specialty in hip hop, rap, dance hall and the hottest new movement, Reggaeton.

Univision revealed the winners of the 17th edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina” Latin music awards. Marc Anthony (four awards), Paulina Rubio (three awards including a special recognition) and Sin Bandera (three awards), topped the list of Latin music recording artists who received the prestigious statuette. Other winners included Alicia Villareal (two awards in the Mexican Regional genre), Chayanne, Celia Cruz (posthumously), Juanes, Banda El Recodo, Carlos Vives, and Marco Antonio Solís.
