GOOGLE certainly raised a few eyebrows with its recent acquisition of YouTube, especially since the site is barely a year old, has huge infrastructure costs, and significant copyright issues with which it has to contend. Throw in the fact that YouTube is just beginning to solidify a revenue model that has historically caused other online community sites to burn out, and you might wonder what Google is thinking, what they plan on doing with it, and how the acquisition should impact your own marketing efforts.

Fox fraternizes with Nuyorican’s ‘Brethren’.
Fox has made a script commitment to a one-hour legal/family drama to be written and executive produced by Alfonso Moreno (“The Practice”). Nuyorican Productions principals Jennifer Lopez and Simon Fields, as well as Ross Fineman through his deal with Fox Television Studios, will also executive produce along with Charles Glen and Barbara Cox.

ABC Radio Networks has announced an agreement with Todobebe to distribute 30-second parenting tips on ABC Radio Networks en Espanol, the leading radio solution for advertisers who want to reach Latino listeners.

According to Inside Radio, the bidding began with identical $36 bids by two groups (Thomas H. Lee/Bain Capital and KKR/Providence Equity Partners/Blackstone). They each raised their offers – but only Lee/Bain was willing to go to $37.60. That’s the number the board finally took after a lengthy meeting. So CC is going private and separately spinning 448 radio stations plus its 42 TV stations.
ZGS Communications acquires new TV stations.
ZGS Communications announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire six low-power television stations which will extend and enhance its already significant television operations. Five of the new stations are located in Florida, including WDYB-LP channel 53, WMVJ-LP channel 29, WPXG-LP channel 31, all Class A stations serving the Orlando market, as well as WWWF-LP channel 47 in Tallahassee and a construction permit for W22DB channel 22 in Gainesville. ZGS will also acquire WKYV-LP channel 45 in Richmond, Virginia.
Hollywood Familia.
Entertainment owner and CEO Frank Aragon and his new partner Ken Sitnick are seeking backing for their up and coming theatrical release of Hollywood Familia. The film will open in limited release on Dec 8, 2006 in Los Angeles, Calif. in order to qualify for nomination consideration in the 79th Annual Academy Awards (AMPAS). The Latin/Jewish duo produced the picture earlier this year.
