While much has been written about listener dissatisfaction with radio, Hispanic listeners, particularly younger Latinos, remain positive about their choices. That’s one of the key findings of “Latin And Rhythmic Radio: Bridging The Gap,” a new survey from Edison Media Research in conjunction with the industry publication Radio and Records.

In celebration of a five centuries old tradition of community service, the National Association of Hispanic Publications [NAHP] commemorated National Hispanic Media Week and the 467th Anniversary of Hispanic Publishing in North America in Washington, DC. The occasion has been formally marked with resolutions in the United States Senate and House of Representatives acknowledging the week of October 8 through 14 as National Hispanic Print Media Week.
Majority of Hispanics are Politically Influenced By Hispanic Newspapers.
A majority of Hispanics (84.1 percent) are more likely to vote affirmative if a candidate or issue provides information to the community through their local Hispanic newspapers, according to a recent telephone survey conducted by Ethnic Print Media Group.

The Fania All-Stars will reunite to celebrate Johnny Pacheco’s 50th Anniversary in music, on Friday, October 20th, beginning at 8 p.m., at The Theater-Madison Square Garden. The once in a lifetime concert will capture three eras of Latin music: Charanga, Tumbao and Salsa, in which Pacheco has excelled at different times during his incredible musical career. The spectacular production will include the most prolific ensemble in the history of Latin music.

Network radio reaches about 75 percent of all radio listeners every week, according to the 2006 Network Radio Today report released today by Arbitron Inc. The report offers perceptive information on national radio listening and network radio audiences collected from the Arbitron RADAR radio rating service.

Radio’s Receptive Ad Environment.
The Radio Ad Effectiveness Lab has begun a new series of research projects under the umbrella theme, Radio and the Consumer’s Mind: How Radio Works. The goal is to continue learning how radio advertising affects consumers differently than other forms of marketing. This new study, Personal Relevance Two: Radio’s Receptive Ad Environment, resulted from a high-quality telephone survey conducted by Harris Interactive for RAEL.
