Wise Latina makes NFL say Uncle.

You gotta love this. A few years ago Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor got Major League Baseball to say Uncle. Now, another wise Latina, Congressman Linda Sanchez of California did the same to the NFL. Story below is from the December 27, 2009 edition of The New York Times. Go Linda!

101 Radio Stations will broadcast the 2010 FIFA World Cup Draw live from South Africa.

Futbol de Primera will be on site at the Cape Town Convention Center on December 4, 2009 where it will broadcast exclusively the World Cup Draw ceremony. Listeners will be able to hear the analysis with Andres Cantor, Bora Milutinovic, the five-time World Cup coach, and FDP’s Mexico’s bureau chief Jaime Gallardo who will broadcast for more than 100 of FDP’s radio station affiliates. On this day, the groups will be decided for the 32 teams that participate in the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa that will kickoff June 11, 2010.

ESPN Deportes’ 2010 World Cup Programming Plans revealed.

As part of ESPN’s multilanguage coverage for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa in the U.S., ESPN Deportes will provide Portuguese-language telecasts of more than 40 live matches of the World Cup. The telecasts will complement the network’s comprehensive Spanish-language news and information coverage of the quadrennial sports event (June 11 – July 11, 2010). ESPN, Inc. owns the rights for all FIFA events in all languages, except Spanish in the U.S. through 2014.

ESPN Deportes unveils marketing campaign for 2009 Dominican League Baseball.

Just as the season of Major League Baseball comes to a close, ESPN Deportes launches its coverage of winter baseball from the Dominican Republic with a new marketing campaign. Tagged, “Durante el invierno el béisbol viaja al Caribe,” (During winter, baseball travels to the Caribbean), the campaign trails baseball as it travels south with ESPN Deportes as the winter baseball season returns yet again to the network. The campaign features animated spots highlighted by a winter baseball themed ‘flight to the island’ and baseball terminology, identifying that the ultimate destination for winter baseball coverage can be found only on ESPN Deportes.
