RTNDF Study: Local Television remains the dominant source of News.

More Americans choose local television news as one of their top three sources for news than any other form of traditional or new media, according to The Future of News Survey conducted for the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation. A total of 65.5 percent named local television news, compared with 28.4 percent who named local newspapers and 28.3 percent who named national network television news. The Internet was one of the top three choices for 11.2 percent of those surveyed.

TV Azteca stands behind right to demand contract fulfillment from Tacher & Nostromo.

Mexican broadcaster TV Azteca has ongoing legal proceedings against former show host Alan Tacher and producer Nostromo for breach of contract. The company reiterates that its decision to demand contract fulfillment from Mr. Tacher and Nostromo is well within its legal rights and includes an obligation to protect its intellectual property and other rights.

Telemundo opens headquarters in Mexico City.

Telemundo Network announced the inauguration of its new Telemundo Mexico headquarters in Mexico City, Mexico. The new offices are home to the network’s new state of the art News Bureau, which features the latest technological equipment and 24 hour connectivity to the U.S. and Latin America. In addition, the new headquarters will house offices for Telemundo’s entertainment division, as well as the finance and sales teams.

MTV Tr3’s launches with groundbreaking performance featuring Nelly Furtado & Calle 13.

Signaling it’s commitment to bring together artists most popular among young Latinos, MTV Tr3´s, the new bilingual channel from MTV, launched this past week with a concert direct from Times Square that featured Nelly Furtado and Calle 13 in a first-ever LIVE performance of the song “Me Da Igual.”

TV Azteca uses force to stop production of Telemundo reality show.

A TV Azteca contingent accompanied by a court clerk and members of Mexico City’s police, arrived at Estudios Ajusco last Friday, where Telemundo’s reality show Quinceañera was being filmed and shut down the production by court order.
