In 2005, the Radio Industry largely participated in a commercial inventory reduction effort, labeled “Less Is More” (LIM) by Clear Channel Communications. Media Monitors, the leading firm that identifies ads in major US markets on radio and in newspapers, retained Wall Street analyst James Boyle to explore its database from the Industry’s major markets to ascertain LIM’s impact and other Industry trends in 2005.

Univision beats ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX in NTI Sweeps period.

During its very first sweeps period included in the Nielsen Television Index ratings service, the Univision Network out-delivered at least one of the other four major broadcast networks among Adults 18-34 on 16 out of 28 nights, or a little more than half the entire sweeps period.

Telemundo delivers best February performance.

Based on the ratings results provided by Nielsen Media Research for their National Hispanic Television Index (NHTI), Telemundo Network continues building its audience; registering the best February sweeps performance ever for Monday through Friday (M-F) prime in adults 18-49 (A18-49) and adults 18-34 (A18-34).

SBS Launches New U.S. Hispanic Television Channel.

Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. announced the launch of Mega TV Channel 22 (WSBS-TV), the Company’s television debut in the South Florida market. Mega TV will showcase a rich programming lineup featuring televised versions of some of Miami’s top radio shows, a daring debate show, dance and music contests, reality and entertainment shows and an interactive spy game show, to name but a few of the genres that will begin airing.
