Digital Video Content Is a Supplement, Not Replacement for TV Programming [INSIGHT & INFOGRAPHIC]

While the vast majority (79 percent) of online U.S. adults obtain the video content they watch from traditional television programming providers such as cable, satellite or fiber-to-the-home, a significant number of viewers are turning to other sources, according to research released today by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). The study, Video Content Discovery and Purchasing Trends, explores video content viewing behavior, discovery, acquisition and format ownership preferences.

Univision expands distribution agreement with BounceTV

Univision Television Group will carry Bounce TV as a multicast channel on its stations in five major markets and has renewed Univision’s distribution of the nation’s first-ever broadcast television network for African Americans as a multicast channel in seven markets as part of a multi-year deal.

Manuel Abud Appointed CEO of Azteca America and adds to The Team

Azteca America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mexican broadcaster TV Azteca, S.A.B. de C.V. announced today that Manuel Abud has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.  His leadership team includes Martin Breidsprecher, newly appointed COO, Court Stroud as EVP of Network Sales, and Enrique Pérez as EVP of Station Group.

Guariglia named VP Network Sales at Telemundo Media

Telemundo Media announced the appointment of Michael Guariglia to Vice President, Network Sales.  Guariglia will be responsible for overseeing the advertising sales function for Telemundo Network for the Northeast territory.  Guariglia will report to Mike Alvarez, Senior Vice President, Ad Sales Telemundo Network and will be based in New York City.

El Gordo y La Flaca celebrate 15th Anniversary

Univision’s hit entertainment news and gossip show, “El Gordo y La Flaca” (The Scoop and The Skinny), is hosting a “Week of Stars” from March 3 through March 7,  at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT (6:00 p.m. Central), as part of its 15th anniversary celebration. Univision announces “Premio Lo Nuestro” line-up

Univision Network has released the complete list of Hispanic stars who will be presenting awards at “Premio Lo Nuestro” 2014, in addition to adding three new names to its roster of A-list performers. Hosted by celebrated singer/actress Ninel Conde and telenovela heartthrob William Levy, the 26th Annual Edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina” (Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards) will air LIVE from Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. Central.
