Latin Music Legends: U.S. Postage Commemorative Forever Stamps.

Five legendary musicians and performers of the Latin sound whose contributions have had a lasting impact on American music — Selena, Carlos Gardel, Carmen Miranda, Tito Puente, and Celia Cruz — today were honored on U.S. commemorative Forever stamps.

With this 26th stamp in the Literary Arts series, the U.S Postal Service honors Julia de Burgos, one of Puerto Rico’s most celebrated poets.

Alex López Negrete appointed to White House Commission for National Latino Museum.

President George W. Bush has appointed Alex López Negrete, president and CEO of Lopez Negrete Communications to serve on a commission to study and report on the establishment of a National Museum dedicated to American Latinos. The Museum would document more than 500 years of American Latino contributions to the United States and be home to thousands of artifacts, images and personal stories.

Marisol Calero presents ‘Mis” Joyas Prestadas’.

With a selection of seventeen songs of famous Puerto Rican, Latin American and Caribbean singers and composers, the Puerto Rican singer, Marisol Calero will present her bohemian musical “Mis” Joyas Prestadas, in Miami, at the café theatre, Kimbara Cumbara on September 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th.

Mujer Dominicana en Nueva York exhibit.

Beginning August 19th through September 30th, 2008, Dominican Republic-based foodservice company MercaSID and its brand, Aceite Cristol, will unveil Proyecto “MUJER Dominicana en Nueva York” (The Dominican Women‚s Project in New York), a major photo exhibition highlighting the lives and achievements of Dominican women across the Diaspora.

Miller Group AOR for Museum of Latin American Art.

The Museum of Latin American Art (molaa) in Long Beach, CA selected The Miller Group as its agency of record (AOR), commencing with a re-branding effort. The effort consists of advertising, PR and interactive to drive traffic and membership to the museum. Advertising focuses on cable TV (throughout the LA ADI), outdoor, print and interactive, and features the museum’s exhibit “Wifredo Lam in North America and Carlos Luna: El Gran Mambo.”
