AHAA: The Voice of Hispanic Marketing is pleased to announce its newest Advisory Board member, Stacie M. de Armas, the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Consumer Engagement at Nielsen, the global performance management company.

The ANA and AEF Join Forces

This decision reflects the long-term strategies of both organizations to shape the future of the industry by connecting academia with the marketing community and, ultimately, attract the best talent to the industry. The ANA/AEF partnership will broaden the industry’s presence on campuses, bring increased marketing content to the industry, provide newfound opportunities for education and research, and initiate a renewed focus on advertising’s role in culture, society, and the economy.

AHAA to contribute to Smithsonian’s Advertising History Collections

AHAA: The Voice of Hispanic Marketing announced that it will donate the Sara Sunshine archives to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History where they will become part of the nationally recognized advertising collections held by the museum’s Archives Center. The Sara Sunshine archives feature advertising print, audio and visuals from the 1960s to 1990s and include artifacts from Ms. Sunshine’s tenure at Spanish Advertising and Marketing Services (SAMS), the first recognized U.S. Hispanic agency founded in 1962, and Siboney Advertising. Among the major advertisers showcased in the Sara Sunshine archives are companies such as Colgate-Palmolive, Kimberly-Clark, Pepsi-Cola and Polaroid.

Association for Latino Media, Marketing & Communication Research launches

A group of professors from around the country culminated at Florida State University the creation of the Association for Latino Media, Marketing & Communication Research (ALMMACR), whose mission is to enhance the teaching and research of this growing arena of the field of communication.

The National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) announced the appointment of Daija Arias as its vice president of Marketing and Development.

Hispanic Public Relations Association announces 2015 National Board of Directors

The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) voted to elect Andy Checo, Director, Publicity & Community Affairs at MundoFox, president of the 2015 National Board of Directors. Checo had been serving as president-elect of HPRA during the 2014 year and as the HPRA-New York chapter president since 2013.

The Hispanic Public Relations Association’s New York Chapter announces 2015 Executive Board

The Hispanic Public Relations Association’s New York Chapter announced the 2015 Executive Board elected by its members. Maria Amor, vice president at FORMULATIN, will lead the organization as President, after having served as the organization’s Secretary in 2014. For the second consecutive year, Federico Mejer, partner at CommongroundMGS, and Veronica Potes, manager of network partners and client solutions at E!, will fill the Vice President roles. Maria J. Ramirez, director at FORMULATIN will make her board debut as Secretary, while former committee member Julie Mendez, senior director at Tractenberg & Co, will take on Treasury duties.

AHAA elects Two New Members to Board of Directors

At its quarterly board meeting in New York City, AHAA: The Voice of Hispanic Marketing announced it has elected two new members to its Board of Directors: Carla Trum Mercado, Partner, CommonGroundMGS and Marco Lopez, Executive Vice President – Partner, elemento L2. As new board members, both will work closely with AHAA’s governing bodies and Executive Director Horacio Gavilan to support the organization’s advocacy initiatives and thought leadership strategies designed to increase corporate investment in Hispanic and multicultural marketing.

AHAA Leads Industry to Improve Hispanic ROI

An industry-wide initiative, led by the trade group AHAA: The Voice of Hispanic Marketing, seeks to get more granular into advertisers ROI measures of the Hispanic market.  A new study, Refining Hispanic ROI, released today by AHAA finds that the rapid shifts in the Hispanic market coupled with the emergence of the Total Market Approach, demand that sales data and television measurement methods evolve or new models emerge to give marketers an accurate read on their Hispanic ROI.

EL CÍRCULO announces Winners of Young Creatives Contest

Círculo Creativo is pleased to announce the winners for this year’s Young Creatives Contest and Not So Young Creatives Contest.  The brief entailed ideating a TV or Cyber piece for La Cocina VA, a non-profit organization that generates job opportunities for the unemployed through job training in the hospitality and food service industries. The judges panel this year was, as always, comprised of a panel of creatives from outside the U.S. Hispanic market.
