A new survey data, recently released from the boutique PR firm Bospar, turned an eye on the ethics of the PR industry. The survey revealed how many PR professionals are willing to cross ethical boundaries to secure coverage. The survey zeroed in on PR professionals to determine where they draw the line between right and wrong.

Brand Safety Issues Are Widespread

The top types of brand-unsafe content that marketers said they or their brands had been exposed to were disasters/tragedies (39%), divisive politics (39%) and fake news (39%). However, almost one-third also said their content had appeared too closely to that of a competitor, underscoring how broad a definition respondents had about unsafe content.

Measurement Will Help Drive Diversity and Gender Equality

The recent outcry about headline speakers at CES ignited another round of debate and discussion about our industry’s diversity/gender equality issues. Yes, it would have been better had there been a more diverse slate of CES presenters. And all conference and event planners — including the ANA — need to ensure that we practice what we preach.
