Hasta pronto … a mi amigo Alex Pallete.

Over the last year as many of you know, we at HispanicAd.com and me personally, were fortunate to become acquainted with the fine art of ‘Account Planning’ in the US Hispanic Market through our efforts to award the ‘Best of the Best in Account Planning’ for the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies.

During this time, I befriended a very interesting individual who happens to be a Spaniard by name of Alex Pallete.

Alex Pallete is a Managing Partner and Director of Account Planning of New York-based The Vidal Partnership.

Grupo Gallegos has withdrawn from the Hispanic Wal-Mart review.

A sudden, but calculated decision on the part of John Gallegos and his team.

That leaves incumbent Houston based Lopez Negrete Communications, Austin based LatinWorks and Miami based Accentmarketing again in ‘Hot Pursuit’ of the Hispanic AOR responsibilities.

Lopez Negrete Communications has been selected to lead Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation’s Hispanic initiatives in the United States.

Better bribes to influence Marketing & Media decisions?

If all Wal-mart’s departing marketing executive Julie Roehm got was some bribes, she needs to do some better shopping. That stuff was marked down.

The dramatic ouster of Roehm this week after a short stint as the senior vice president of marketing communications at Wal-Mart has left virtually everyone in the ad community shaking their heads. All this happened just weeks after Wal-Mart shifted agencies, giving its creative business to the newly formed Interpublic Group of Cos.’ Draft FCB, and the media buying and planning business to Carat USA.

According to Ad Age, the review is back on. FCB Draft has been fired after winning the account in the review and not allowed back into the new review.

How does this affect the US Hispanic market and Puerto Rico review? Well, we just do not know yet.

Corona Extra, Corona Light & Modelo Especial @ Casanova Pendrill.

Crown Imports LLC announced that it has named Casanova Pendrill Integrated Hispanic Communications of Costa Mesa, Calif., as its Hispanic agency of record for the company’s three principal brands: Corona Extra, Corona Light, and Modelo Especial. The Agency will handle integrated duties including strategic planning, creative development, production, media buying, promotions and public relations. Billings are not being disclosed.

No Smiley Face For Roehm: Wal-Mart Marketing Exec Axed.

One of the media Industry’s most colorful and influential client-side marketing executives, Wal-Mart’s Julie Roehm, is out after less than a year on the job. Roehm, who previously shook up the media world proposing the creation of a “Nasdaq” like trading system for buying media while a DaimlerChrysler executive, leaves Wal-Mart just two months after leading Wal-Mart’s advertising account review.
