Country of Origin Profiles of U.S. Hispanics.

More than eight-in-ten Hispanics self-identify themselves as being either of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Salvadoran or Dominican origin. Mexican-Americans are by far the largest group, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the Hispanic population in the U.S. There are a range of differences between these five population groups—for example, in the share of each group that is foreign born, citizen (by birth or naturalization), and proficient in English. They are of varying age and tend to live in different areas within the U.S. Likewise, the groups display varying levels of education, homeownership rates, and poverty rates. These and other characteristics are explored in five fact sheets, one for each country-of-origin group. Each population is also compared to all Hispanics and the U.S. population overall. Boost Mobile announced the selection of New York-based agency The Vidal Partnership (TVP) as AOR for Boost Hispanic public relations initiatives.

TNS Media – U.S. Advertising Expenditures declined 14.3 % in First Half 2009.

Total measured advertising expenditures in the first six months of 2009 fell 14.3 percent versus a year ago, to $60.87 billion, according to data released today by TNS Media Intelligence, the leading provider of strategic advertising and marketing information. Ad spending during the second quarter of 2009 was off 13.9 percent compared to last year, the fifth consecutive quarter of year-over-year declines.

Majority of Marketers conduct formal Agency Performance Evaluations.

The vast majority of marketers (82 percent) report that their companies regularly conduct formal agency performance evaluations according to a survey conducted by the ANA (Association of National Advertisers), in partnership with marketing services firm ‘mktg.’

What is Account Planning?

In 1986 the APG published a booklet written by Sev d’Souza as a definition of account planning. Fifteen years later, with the further evolution of planning, that definition needed updating. Merry Baskin (APG Chair in 1998 and 1999) undertook the task and in 2001 wrote the Millenium edition — which she updated in 2007 to be ready for the 40th anniversary of planning in 2008.
