CBS’ new show ‘Rob’, one giant step backward for Latinos.

Having just watched the pilot for Rob Schneider’s new show, Rob, I am totally disgusted by the way CBS has portrayed a Mexican-American family in an attempt to lure Latinos to general market television. The only thing I can think of is that they wanted to use every stereotype in the book to generate non-Hispanic viewership. Telemundo Media announced that it will hold its annual Upfront presentation on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 6pm EST in New York at the American Museum of Natural History, in the museum’s Cullman Hall of the Universe.

Univision Communications Inc. plans to hold its annual Upfront presentation for advertisers in New York City at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the New Amsterdam Theatre.

Carrera named Senior VP of TV at Entravision Communications.

Entravision Communications Corporation announced that Mario M. Carrera has been promoted to the newly-created position of Senior Vice President of Spanish-Language Television, overseeing and managing all of Entravision’s Spanish-language television properties. Carrera previously led Entravision’s radio, television and interactive assets in Colorado as the Vice President and General Manager for 8 years.

Scripps completes acquisition McGraw-Hill / Azteca America TV stations.

The E.W. Scripps Company completed its acquisition of nine television stations from McGraw-Hill Broadcasting. The company announced its intention to acquire the stations on October 3, 2011.

Barcheski named VP of Research at nuvoTV.

nuvoTV announced hat media industry research veteran Karen Barcheski has joined the company as vice president, research, a newly created position. She reports to Michael Schwimmer, chief executive officer.
