Eduardo Caballero to be honored with Medalla de Cortez Radio Award.
Radio Ink magazine has just announced that legendary Hispanic Radio pioneer and veteran Eduardo Caballero will be bestowed the Medalla de Cortez award for the Hispanic Broadcaster of the Year.
Mr. Caballero will be on the cover of the May 4, 2009 issue of Radio Ink, the issue is being dedicated to the Hispanic Radio Industry.
Changes at Spanish Broadcasting System.
Frank Flores has been named the Chief Revenue Officer of Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS). Mr. Flores will continue to manage the SBS New York radio stations WSKQ-FM and WPAT-FM.
Marko Radlovic moves from Chief Operating Officer to SVP/GM of SBS’s Los Angeles radio stations.
Industry insiders also speculate that Mr. Radlovic will be involved in SBS’s soon to be annouced new television venture, when Mega-TV programming will be appearing very soon on NBC’s KWHY-TV in Los Angeles.

According to the latest MIW Gender Analysis Study released by the Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group (MIWs), out of 10,700 AM and FM radio stations accounted for by MStreet Publications as of November 2008, 1695 or 15.8% have women holding the GM position in 2008.

Billboard to honor Pablo Raúl Alarcón.
Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) announced that Billboard has posthumously honored Mr. Pablo Raúl Alarcón with its 2009 Hall of Fame Award, in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the development of radio and Latin music in the United States. Mr. Raúl Alarcón, Jr. will accept the award at the Billboard Latin Music Conference.
Radio Accountability Initiative announced at RAB Conference.
Ad-ID announced the “Radio Accountability Initiative,” which was endorsed by the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) at its RAB `09 conference. Harold S. Geller, senior vice president, cross-industry workflow, 4A’s, and managing director, Ad-ID LLC, announced the initiative during a panel discussion entitled “Increasing Cash Flow and Decreasing Makegoods Through Digital Commercial Workflow.” The Initiative will address accountability and distribution platforms that ensure the right commercials get on the right stations.
